Summer is a busy season in the Tucker Summit CID, and this year is no exception. Everywhere you look, there’s incredible progress taking shape — from transportation improvements and infrastructure investments to projects that strengthen the our district’s identity and make it an even better place to do business.

While some of these improvements are highly visible, others happen behind the scenes through planning, coordination and partnerships. Together, they represent our long-term commitment to creating a safer, more connected and more vibrant district for businesses, property owners and the community. None of this would be possible without the collaboration of our local partners, including the City of Tucker, DeKalb County, GDOT and the many stakeholders who help move these projects forward.

The new signs are now welcoming businesses, property owners and visitors at key entrances, creating a stronger sense of place and showcasing the continued investment happening throughout the district.

The North-South Royal Industrial Streetlight District project is making steady progress.

Beginning the week of July 20, crews will start underground infrastructure work to prepare for the new lighting system. The good news is that there will be no expected utility or power outages, and all businesses will remain accessible throughout construction.

The project remains on schedule for completion by the end of the year, bringing improved visibility and safety throughout the district.

The Tucker City Council recently recognized National Disability Pride Month with a proclamation honoring the incredible work of Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC) and Peter & Paul’s Place, as well as their dedicated staff and volunteers. The recognition celebrates the organizations’ ongoing commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities and creating a more inclusive community.

Congratulations to Laurie Ann and everyone at FODAC on this well-deserved recognition. We’re proud to have organizations making such a meaningful impact right here in our community.

Hugh Howell Road at Mountain Industrial Boulevard
The Hugh Howell Road intersection improvement project continues moving forward. Utility companies are actively coordinating relocation plans and securing the easements needed to prepare for construction. Over the next several weeks, crews will complete minor utility relocations and adjustments as work continues behind the scenes.

Once complete, the project will add new turn lanes to improve safety, ease congestion and enhance traffic flow at one of the district’s busiest intersections. Construction is expected to continue through 2027.

U.S. 78 at Mountain Industrial Boulevard
The U.S. 78 and Mountain Industrial Boulevard interchange project has reached another important milestone. Bids are in, and the project is advancing through the contract award process as preparations continue for construction.

The project will realign exit ramps, add turn lanes, install a concrete median and upgrade lighting to improve safety and traffic flow. Construction is anticipated to begin later this year and continue through 2027.

Congratulations to the City of Tucker on the opening of Richardson Street, an important improvement within the CID that reconnects the community after decades of closure.

The newly reopened roadway creates a continuous connection between East Ponce de Leon Avenue and Stone Mill Way, improving safety, visibility and accessibility for residents, businesses and visitors. The project also includes new sidewalks, roadway improvements, utility relocations and stormwater upgrades, creating a safer and more connected corridor for the community.
