There is a lot to be proud of in Tucker Summit CID right now! From major infrastructure projects breaking ground to fresh landscaping and bold new signage along our corridors, you can see the progress taking shape across the district.
It has been incredible to watch years of planning turn into visible improvements at Hugh Howell Road and U.S. 78. These projects, along with ongoing partnerships with city and state leaders, are strengthening safety, mobility and access for the businesses that power our district. When infrastructure improves, business conditions improve — and that benefits everyone who operates here.
As construction activity increases along Mountain Industrial Boulevard, I encourage businesses along the corridor to stay connected. Please sign up for project notifications on our website so you can receive timely updates and plan accordingly. Thank you for being part of a district that continues to invest, improve and move forward together!

The City of Tucker is considering a proposed ordinance that could provide property owners with an additional tool to address ongoing loitering concerns at commercial properties. Under the current process, enforcement often depends on whether a business representative is physically present to authorize action. If a store is closed or management is off-site, response options may be limited.
In 2025, DeKalb County revised its policies to allow property owners to authorize police to act on their behalf, even when they are not present. Because Tucker receives police services through an intergovernmental agreement with DeKalb County, the city was previously unable to implement a similar program until the county adopted its update. Tucker is now proposing to amend Chapter 30 of its city code to align with the county’s policy.
If approved, officers would be permitted to approach individuals loitering on private property that displays approved “No Loitering” signage, even if a property representative is not on-site. The program would apply during both daytime and nighttime hours and is intended to close an enforcement gap while supporting proactive safety efforts at commercial locations.
For the program to work, property owners must post approved signage citing the applicable code section, formally authorize law enforcement to act on their behalf and be willing to follow through on trespassing charges if filed.
The Tucker City Council conducted its first reading of the ordinance on February 9. A second reading is required before a final vote can be taken. The council is scheduled to consider adoption at its March 9 meeting.
Property owners and business representatives are encouraged to attend on March 9 at 7 p.m. to offer public comment and show support for the ordinance. Those unable to attend may contact members of the City Council directly.
Tucker Summit CID will continue to monitor the proposal and share updates as they become available.

On February 3, the City of Tucker celebrated its 10-year anniversary with special recognition under the Gold Dome. The milestone was honored on the House floor through a resolution presented by Billy Mitchell, alongside members of Tucker’s House delegation, and in the Senate by Randal Mangham and Sally Harrell.
Moments like this are a reminder of how far Tucker has come in just a decade. Tucker Summit CID values the strong partnerships between city and state leadership that help move projects forward — from mobility improvements to infrastructure investments that support businesses across the district. When leaders work together, the entire community benefits.

Hugh Howell Road at Mountain Industrial Boulevard
Improvements are officially moving forward at the Hugh Howell Road and Mountain Industrial Boulevard intersection — a key access point for businesses and commuters in the district. The project will add new turn lanes in multiple directions to improve safety and reduce congestion during peak travel times.
Timeline and impact: The City issued the contractor’s notice to proceed, and early work is now underway. Initial activities include staking, installation of erosion control measures, utility relocations and minor clearing. These early phases are not expected to significantly impact traffic. Construction will continue through this year and into 2027.
