Shubert Paints
Founded in 1980, Shubert Paints has been in the Tucker Summit district since 1983. Because of customer demand, founders Jeff Shubert, his wife Joann Shubert and Jim Lee decided to locate to 2157 Mountain Industrial Boulevard and have continued operating their successful business ever since.

Shubert Paints is a family-owned and operated manufacturing paint company that also distributes premium brands of paints, stains, lacquers varnishes and more. The company offers fast color matching as quickly as 24 hours.

We are incredibly fortunate to have longstanding, family-run businesses in our district like Shubert Paints. Visit the company’s website for more information.
Commissioner Robert Patrick
Small businesses are the bloodline of our local economy. However, according to the Kaufmann Foundation, lack of access to capital is one of the main barriers facing entrepreneurs and small businesses. In its 2019 study, The State of Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs: From Barriers to Potential, found that 83% of entrepreneurs do not access bank loans or venture capital at the time of startup. Essentially, the traditional route to capital access is an uphill battle for many entrepreneurs. Therefore, it is important that local government agencies and community-based organizations provide creative and non-traditional paths toward funding and resources that meet the needs of area small business communities.

During the 2023 Mid-Year Budget cycle, I sponsored a $2.5 million request for Decide DeKalb to establish a new revolving loan fund and technical assistance program. Loan sizes between $50,000 and $150,000 are typically not well served by existing publicly funded loan programs in DeKalb County. The goal of the fund is to provide businesses that historically have had difficulty with accessing traditional sources of funding with another avenue for access to capital. This technical assistance component will assist businesses in ensuring that they are prepared to grow and sustain in the long-term.

In December 19, 2023, the Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved the budget request with unanimous support. We are excited to offer this much-needed funding program to assist more entrepreneurs and small business owners in DeKalb County, and help them turn dreams into a reality. This will in turn create a stronger more sustainable economy here in DeKalb County.

Also located in the Hugh Howell Marketplace at 4650 Hugh Howell Road, Bite of Korea is the bridge between Korean culture and its Tucker patrons, offering mouthwatering food alongside excellent service.

TSCID Lighting
TSCID continues to petition property owners for permission to install additional lighting throughout the district’s corridors. Increased lighting will aid in securing and protecting residents, businesses and properties from potential criminal activity.
