Another Successful Tucker “Back to Work” Job Fair

Thanks to our incredible partnerships with the City of Tucker, WorkSource DeKalb, Georgia Piedmont Technical College and Tucker-Northlake CID our second job fair this year was a big success!

Hundreds of job seekers from metro Atlanta descended upon Stone Ridge Event Center to meet with more than 40 top employers in our region. Among the job seekers were several groups of new Georgia residents who recently arrived from Afghanistan seeking a safer and better life in our community. Eleven refugees affiliated with New American Pathways found employment directly from the job fair!

Call for Community Assistance for

Afghan Humanitarian Evacuees

DeKalb County and the City of Clarkston have been welcoming refugees for more than 40 years. This year, TSCID has been reaching out to local organizations like New American Pathways and International Rescue Committee to offer assistance to the hundreds of Afghan humanitarian evacuees with special immigrant visas (SIVs) who will be making their way to Georgia to resettle into their new homes in the coming months.

We are asking our valued members and friends in the community to become allies and offer support in any way possible as these organizations expand their resettlement efforts to accommodate our new neighbors and friends.

Ways to donate, advocate or support can be found on this website.

Flintstone Drive Traffic Signal Installation Ribbon-Cutting

Thanks to the joint effort and hard work between the City of Tucker, Georgia Department of Transportation, DeKalb County, DeKalb County School District, TSCID as well as property owners Branch Properties and Crespac, we were able to come together last month to celebrate the successful installation of the Flintstone Drive and Hugh Howell traffic signal in front of Smoke Rise Elementary School.

This million-dollar project was needed to ensure the safe access for Smoke Rise Elementary School’s students, faculty and parents along with the adjoining retail and other businesses.
A special thank you goes to our infrastructure engineer Larry Kaiser, who envisioned the original concepts for this project and saw them through, along with the help of engineering professionals Atlas Engineering and ER Snell for their great contribution in completing this project.

Hugh Howell Marketplace Update

Atlanta-based real estate investment and development firm Branch Properties announced several new restaurants and service providers as new tenants to open at the Publix Super Market-anchored Hugh Howell Marketplace in Tucker, Georgia opening this month.

Serving the surrounding Tucker community and adjacent Smoke Rise neighborhood, the growing lineup of restaurants will include Antico Pizza Napoletana, Atlanta’s fourth location for the pizzeria; First Watch, a national restaurant chain specializing in breakfast, brunch and lunch; Jersey Mike’s Subs, an American sub sandwich chain; and Buffalo Wild Wings “GO,” a smaller format of the national chain designed specifically for takeout and delivery. Service and healthcare-oriented tenants will include ATI Physical Therapy; The Joint Chiropractic; Scenthound Dog Grooming and Piedmont Urgent Care.

Branch has also submitted a request to rezone a portion of the land, the first step in bringing gusto!, a local fast-casual restaurant specializing in fresh bowls and wraps, to the shopping center.

We are excited to welcome these new businesses to the district!
