TSCID TIP Funding
In mid-December 2022, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) approved $235 million in federal funding for the region’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for transportation projects across metro Atlanta. Three Tucker Summit CID intersections will benefit from the TIP funding.
The federal funds will provide $350,000 for the district, along with an additional $90,000 contribution from the CID and the City of Tucker — totaling $450,000. As a result, Mountain Industrial Boulevard at North Royal Atlanta Drive, South Royal Atlanta Drive and Greer Circle will be upgraded throughout 2023. These projects include improvements such as increasing intersection radii to accommodate truck movements, signage, new traffic signals and mast arms, and were selected from the Freight Cluster Plan conducted by the CID.
Officials from the CID and the City submitted projects for funding in October 2021 and the final selections were based on a combination of performance and cost-effective measures.
Jannine Miller
Georgia Department of Transportation Director of Planning Jannine Miller just got busier! Governor Brian Kemp hand-picked her to head three additional transportation agencies, the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA), the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority (ATL) and the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA). All three organizations’ boards approved Miller within a day of each other.
“Jannine will have a keen understanding of the needs of CIDs across the region,” said Todd Long, of Atlas Technical Consultants. “She understands the benefit of organizations that work to help themselves and will be immensely impactful in maximizing funding partnerships that CIDs create.”
With Tucker Mayor Frank Auman already on the GRTA board of directors, TSCID is excited to work with such experienced authorities in developing and improving transit strategies for our district’s corridors.
Arbiser Machine
While Arbiser Machine was established in Tucker in 1964, the European company Arbiser Foundry was founded in 1886 by Sam Arbiser. Growing up in Poland in a family of metallurgists and machine builders, Sam studied to be a mechanical engineer. After fleeing Hitler in 1939, he met his wife Pola and they eventually immigrated to the U.S. in the 1960’s and grew a business.
Arbiser, now led by President Bill McKlveen, has been an industry leader in making millions of high-precision machined parts. Their services include wireEDM, CNC machining, waterjet cutting, reverse engineering 3D printing, laser engraving, CMM services and designs.
With the uptick in film projects around Tucker and metro Atlanta, Arbiser has been busy making stage props using their quick, precision-cutting waterjet, which can slice through plastic, rubber, wood and more.
It is an incredible testament that as one of the original institutions in the district, Arbiser is still going strong and thriving after all these years. Keep up the incredible work!
Commissioner Bradshaw and Senator Jon Ossoff
On January 11, Senator Jon Ossoff visited District 4 to meet with Commissioner Steve Bradshaw and the Ethiopian Community Association in Atlanta (ECCA) about securing $842,000 in funding for the organization.
“As always, it was an honor to welcome Sen. Ossoff back to District 4,” said Commissioner Bradshaw. “Wednesday, we hosted him at the Ethiopian Community Association facility on Memorial Drive and he was there to engage with Ethiopian community leaders. As part of the application process, I was asked by the community to send a letter of support for the funding request, and it was my honor to do so. We are so grateful to Sen. Ossoff for his steadfast support of this community and all our communities.”
The funding will be used to upgrade the ECCA facility so that it may be used in its full capacity for celebrating graduations, wedding ceremonies and receptions, after-school programs and various communitywide activities and programs.
FODAC Alzheimer's Music Fest
Friends of Disabled Adults & Children (FODAC) is at it again with helping to raise funds for families living with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. The 10th Annual Alzheimer’s Music Fest will be held on February 4 at Buckhead Theatre this year and features the popular musical talents of Cracker, Cowboy Mouth, Arrested Development and more.

Samaritan's Purse Update
The holiday season was a little brighter for children around the world due to the enormous undertaking of Operation Christmas Child’s Processing Center which packaged and shipped approximately 1.57 million shoe boxes from the district’s 2000 Mountain Industrial Boulevard address (donated by Link Logistics) to children in need.

Every year,
Samaritan’s Purse collects shoeboxes filled with small gifts and necessities like hygiene products and school supplies for children in need across the globe. For many children, this is their first-ever gift. The efforts of Samaritan’s Purse not only provide children with much-needed gifts and supplies but also employs more than 200 seasonal workers in our district to meet the need.

Samaritan’s Purse is an international, nondenominational Christian relief organization that provides assistance to people in physical need, including disaster relief aid.

TSCID Projects
Work is set to begin on the design plans to improve the right-of-way traffic on Mountain Industrial Boulevard at Tuckerstone Parkway.
Phases two and three of the new district-wide street lighting installation project are being scheduled for completion by the end of 2023.
Stay tuned for a public meeting announcement to discuss upgrades to the Highway 78 ramp at Mountain Industrial Boulevard.
These improvement upgrades throughout the district could not take place without the financial commitments from Commissioners Steve Bradshaw and Robert Patrick. TSCID and the City of Tucker are grateful to have their support in making our region attractive to businesses and consumers.
