One of the priorities we hear most often from property and business owners is the need for better lighting — and it’s incredible to see this project finally getting over the finish line!
With the City of Tucker’s recent approval of the North-South Royal Industrial Streetlight District, this project, which began with outreach in late 2023, is now moving forward. This has been a consistent need across the corridor, and these improvements will make a meaningful difference in safety and the overall business environment. Keep reading for more on this project.
That same progress is carrying across the district. We’re continuing to partner with the City of Tucker, Georgia DOT and other partners on major infrastructure projects along Mountain Industrial Boulevard, while also staying focused on the details — from maintenance and landscaping to the day-to-day improvements that keep the district clean, safe and business-ready.
We appreciate your continued engagement and support as we move this work forward. If I or our team can be of service to you or your business, please don’t hesitate to reach out by replying to this email.

The City of Tucker approved the creation of the North-South Royal Industrial Streetlight District on April 13, clearing the way for long-needed lighting improvements in a key industrial area within Tucker Summit CID.
The new district enables installation of streetlights along the North and South Royal Atlanta Drive corridor, where property owners have consistently identified lighting as a top safety concern. The city will contribute $225,000 toward the $522,000 installation cost, with the Tucker Summit CID funding the remaining balance. Ongoing electricity costs, estimated at approximately $30,000 annually, will be covered through an additional assessment within the district.
For businesses and property owners, the impact is clear: improved visibility, stronger deterrence against criminal activity and a safer environment for employees and operations, particularly during early morning and evening hours.
According to Georgia Power, construction could begin within the next 90 days, marking a significant step forward for a project long identified as a priority across the district. Stay tuned to future CID newsletters and social media for updates.

What to expect: Construction bids are expected this spring, with work anticipated to begin in the second half of the year and continue through 2027. Temporary traffic disruptions are expected during construction, but the completed project will significantly improve safety and mobility across the corridor.

Hugh Howell Road at Mountain Industrial Boulevard
Improvements are underway at the Hugh Howell Road and Mountain Industrial Boulevard intersection, a key access point for businesses and daily commuters in the district.
The project will add new turn lanes in multiple directions to improve safety and reduce congestion, particularly during peak travel times.
What to expect: The contractor has received the notice to proceed, and early work is in progress, including staking, erosion control, utility relocations and minor clearing. A previously overlooked property at the corner of Roadhaven Drive and Lewis Road has a new life — and a new business is bringing craftsmanship and quality to the district
Capital Design Cabinetry is bringing custom craftsmanship and full-service renovation support to the Tucker Summit CID, operating out of its newer location along Roadhaven Drive.
This growing DeKalb-based business offers custom cabinetry and countertop solutions across the Tucker and Stone Mountain area. Specializing in kitchen and bath renovations, the team works with materials like granite, quartz and marble, providing end-to-end services from design and measurement to fabrication and installation — helping projects stay streamlined and coordinated from start to finish.
What sets Capital Design Cabinetry apart is its ability to handle both cabinetry and countertops in-house, reducing the need for multiple vendors and ensuring consistency across projects. That approach is especially valuable for contractors and property owners managing renovations or buildouts across multiple spaces.
Operating as an active workshop and service hub within an industrial-zoned area, the Roadhaven Drive facility supports fabrication and installation work throughout DeKalb County and the broader Metro Atlanta market. The 10,526-square-foot building, originally constructed in 1970, has been repositioned into a productive space that contributes to the district’s ongoing reinvestment and activity.
For property and business owners in the Tucker Summit CID, Capital Design Cabinetry offers a local resource for interior buildouts, tenant improvements and renovation projects — with the capacity to support both small-scale upgrades and larger commercial needs.
