It’s been an incredible start to the year in Tucker Summit CID — and we’re just getting going!
This quarter, we’ve focused on creating real opportunities: connecting brokers to available industrial space, advancing long-awaited infrastructure projects along Mountain Industrial Boulevard and showcasing resources that support both workforce and small business growth. We’re grateful for our continued partnership with the City of Tucker and DeKalb County as we move this work forward and strengthen the district together.
At the same time, we’re committed to the details that shape daily business operations — from maintaining a clean and professional environment through consistent landscaping upkeep and graffiti removal to supporting new safety tools for property owners.
We also want to take a moment to recognize the passing of Ed McBrayer, a good friend and a leader who accomplished so much for our metro area. Ed helped create the PATH corridor that runs through our district along East Ponce de Leon Avenue, and we are proud to maintain the signage and landscaping there as part of his lasting impact.
Thanks for reading and see below for more updates to see what’s happening across Tucker Summit CID.

Tucker Summit CID kicked off its first Broker Tour on March 18, bringing commercial real estate professionals onsite to experience some of the district’s most compelling industrial opportunities firsthand.
The tour featured key properties along the Mountain Industrial corridor, including the former Eurofins building at 2460 Mountain Industrial Boulevard and the Georgia Furniture Mart property at 4470 Greer Circle, which is currently for sale and will soon offer leasing opportunities. Each stop gave brokers a closer look at the scale, flexibility and potential available within the district.
The program also included insights from Sunny Anderson, director of economic development for Decide DeKalb, and Erica Rocker, economic development director for the City of Tucker, who shared updates on incentives, permitting and why businesses continue to choose Tucker. DeKalb County Commissioner Robert Patrick also joined the tour, showing continued support for the district and its growth by making permitting easier for TSCID’s businesses.
Thank you to CBRE, Spiller Industrial and Shaheen Development for partnering on this first tour and helping bring these opportunities to market. And thanks to Tucker Brewing for hosting us for lunch!

Hugh Howell Road at Mountain Industrial Boulevard
Improvements are officially moving forward at the Hugh Howell Road and Mountain Industrial Boulevard intersection — a key access point for businesses and commuters in the district. The project will add new turn lanes in multiple directions to improve safety and reduce congestion during peak travel times.
Timeline and impact: The City issued the contractor’s notice to proceed, and early work is now underway. Initial activities include staking, installation of erosion control measures, utility relocations and minor clearing. These early phases are not expected to significantly impact traffic. Construction will continue through this year and into 2027.

U.S. 78 at Mountain Industrial Boulevard
Improvements are moving forward at the U.S. 78 and Mountain Industrial Boulevard interchange, one of the district’s busiest access points. The project will realign exit ramps, add turn lanes, install a concrete median and upgrade lighting to improve safety and traffic flow.
Timeline and impact: Construction bids are expected later this spring, with work anticipated to begin in the second half of the year and continue through 2027. Temporary traffic disruptions are expected during construction, but the completed improvements will significantly enhance safety and mobility across the corridor.

Finding reliable, entry-level workforce talent continues to be a challenge for many industrial and warehouse businesses. A local nonprofit, Inspiritus, is helping bridge that gap — and Tucker Summit CID businesses can take advantage.
Through its Economic Empowerment Program, Inspiritus provides employment coaching, job readiness training and direct connections to job seekers across the Tucker and Stone Mountain areas. Each week, the organization works with approximately 30 to 50 individuals actively seeking employment, many of whom are ready for entry-level roles in warehousing, logistics and industrial environments.
Unlike a traditional staffing agency, Inspiritus offers a flexible, partnership-based approach. Employers can:
- Share open positions for direct referrals
- Host onsite hiring events or interviews
- Build customized partnerships based on hiring needs
Inspiritus also supports candidates with resume development, interview preparation and ongoing career coaching, helping ensure job seekers are prepared to succeed once placed.
The organization is expanding its workforce pipeline even further with a new construction pre-apprenticeship program, creating additional opportunities for employers in skilled trades such as HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
For businesses looking to strengthen their workforce, this is a no-cost resource that provides access to motivated, job-ready candidates — many of whom bring strong work ethic, diverse experience and long-term commitment to employment.

The City of Tucker has approved updates to its loitering ordinance, giving businesses and property owners an additional tool to help address safety concerns.
Adopted unanimously by the Tucker City Council on March 9, the updates align Tucker’s code with DeKalb County’s ordinance and expand the types of locations where loitering is prohibited.
The changes also allow businesses to participate in DeKalb County’s Loitering Enforcement Authorization Program, enabling police to enforce loitering laws directly on approved private properties.
For property owners and businesses, this creates a clearer path to addressing ongoing issues and improving overall site safety.
