TSCID March Owners' Meeting
Thank you to all our members who were able to make it to the Spring Owners Meeting on March 29 at Stone Ridge Event Center. It’s always a pleasure to be able to gather so many savvy business minds in a room to network and share experiences.
We were pleased that District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw was able to join us and inform everyone of a long-overdue sanitation cost increase, effective June 1. Overall, Commissioner Bradshaw was optimistic, saying, “I remember when the headlines for DeKalb were horrible and constant. Today, they aren’t. That’s how I know we’re making progress.”
Mayor Frank Auman also addressed security and safety concerns for the area. He also stated that the City of Tucker is in the process of creating a new department focused on city improvements and maintenance, particularly trails, rotary improvements and especially road maintenance and stormwater. Currently, they are contracting with Lowe Engineers to support this initiative through studies.
Updates from the TSCID’s infrastructure engineer, Larry Kaiser, can be found on our website.

Transpo Op-ed
If you caught Emory Morsberger’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s letter to the editor on March 28 about how the transportation bills being considered by the General Assembly would affect the district’s economy — there have been some updates!
The language in HB 617 was added to HB 52 (GDOT cleanup bill) on March 27 and passed out of the Senate. It is now headed over to the House to agree to the Senate amendment.
Also on March 27, SB 146 passed out of the House and the Senate agreed to the House amendment. It is now on its way to the Governor’s desk for his signature. The amendment changes line 341 of the bill to now say, “Electricity shall be not more than 11 kilowatt-hours,” instead of the previous version that said 9 kilowatt-hours. The number is part of the calculation for the state to collect taxes from EV charging stations to be approximately the same cost per gallon we pay at the gas pumps. Under this new amendment, the higher number lowers the amount consumers would be charged to $2.84 per kilowatt-hour.
Both HB52 and SB146 mean funding to enhance our thoroughfares, which in turn means safer road conditions, less traffic and improved commerce. I implore that you contact your local representatives and Governor Brian Kemp in support of both these bills so that they may be signed into legislation. This is the road to a greater future.
