Owner Sam Kok may be the third owner of the Asian food products company, but he uses his own recipes to ensure his products account for various allergies and food sensitivities. Founded in 1998, Kok took over Dai Sing in 2009 and oversees the 30,000 SF building and nine employees, which also produces egg roll and wonton skins as well as dry noodles.
When the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic hit, companies dependent on restaurants, like Dai Sing — especially Asian buffets — were hit the hardest. However, Kok managed to avoid layoffs by cutting hours from the work week. Now that outdoor dining weather has coincided with the anticipated end of the pandemic, restaurant and take out business has positively impacted the company. Kok feels fortunate to be located in such an accessible district and appreciates the job the CID does to keep the community well maintained and safe.
Dai Sing buys its fortunes from a California fortune aggregator website like this one (submit your wisdom and lottery numbers if you’re feeling lucky). While Kok doesn’t sell fortune cookies to individual restaurants or retailers, he will occasionally offer custom promotional fortunes for special occasions.

Tucker Summit CID was saddened by the loss of life that occurred during the March 16 attack on the Atlanta Asian community. With such diversified businesses and populations in our district, there is no room for hate in our hearts. Flintstone Drive Gets a Makeover for the
New Smoke Rise Elementary School
Safe passage for school buses, parents and teachers as they travel to and from the new Smoke Rise Elementary School in Tucker is on the way. The official groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction took place on Tuesday, April 13. The much-anticipated intersection improvements, along with a new traffic signal at Flintstone Drive at Hugh Howell Road, will create well-marked turn lanes and clear pedestrian crossings that will serve the community for years to come.
“Today, Tucker puts its money where its mouth is,” said Mayor Frank Auman. “Today, we invest in the most important, the most critical, the most urgent thing we can invest in — which is our kids, our school systems.”
The intersection improvements will also allow inter-parcel access to the new Hugh Howell Marketplace at Mountain Industrial Boulevard that is being developed by Branch Properties.

TSCID, City of Tucker, DeKalb County and GPTC Partner to Host a Job Fair May 12
A recent WSB article named DeKalb County an “economic renaissance” of new developments which will bring thousands of jobs to the area. We have been so fortunate that district businesses were able to quickly adapt to the extraordinary circumstances that COVID-19 forced upon us and have actually been thriving during this time.
Now that there is a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel and people are ready to return to the office, our businesses are in need of ready-to-work and qualified labor now more than ever. In response, TSCID is collaborating with the City of Tucker, WorkSource DeKalb, Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC) and other partners to host the Tucker Job Fair from 10 a.m. – 2 p. m. on May 12 at Stone Ridge Event Center.
The event will be COVID-19 compliant observing all health and safety precautions. Masks and a temperature check will be required prior to entry and separate entrances and exits will also be instituted for maximum efficiency with minimum exposure.

Georgia DOT and Tucker PD Address the Transient and Trash Issues under MIB
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Tucker Police Department have spent the past two months working on resolving issues around trash and the transient population under the Mountain Industrial Boulevard bridge. The liability of possible fires and other damage from the debris left behind by those inhabiting beneath the bridge has been a community concern for some time.
On Wednesday, April 7, Lt. Stanfield and officers from the Tucker Police Department spent more than six hours directing traffic as Hepaco, an environmental and biohazard resolution contracting service cleaned and removed trash from under the bridge. Shane Bramlett, the Arcadis consultant for GDOT, described the effort as a wonderful partnership between local municipalities.
Individuals inhabiting the area were given a range of options for transportation and resources that offered support and assistance.

Road Resurfacing
Last month, the City of Tucker kicked off its 2021 Road Resurfacing Project with two of the streets falling within the Tucker Summit CID.
“North Royal Atlanta Drive looks great now that the resurfacing project has been completed. Employees, visitors and service providers visiting the Ricoh site in Tucker are very delighted with the improved conditions,” said Ricoh CFM Michael Wilkerson. “The newly paved road not only provides for safer conditions and eliminates possible vehicle damage from potholes and other road deficiencies, it should also enhance property values along the route. Many thanks to the Tucker Summit CID for their efforts in getting this done!”
“All of our owners and tenants in the North Royal Atlanta Drive area are so excited about our street paving. Our demolition derby days are over and we are enjoying a nice smooth ride to work every day,” added NAI Brannen Goddard property manager and TSCID Vice Chair Rebekah Coblentz. “The project was completed in an orderly and efficient manner with little bother to those using our street!! Thanks to City of Tucker, Tucker Summit CID and DeKalb County for their great efforts in getting this project completed.”
The City of Tucker has also completed a sidewalk on Elmdale Drive while the resurfacing of Litton Drive is underway.

Branch Properties’ new development, Hugh Howell Marketplace, at the Hugh Howell Road and Mountain Industrial Boulevard intersection is coming along! Development Manager Byron Wilson, who participated in the Flintstone Drive Groundbreaking Ceremony stated that if the weather cooperates, construction will be completed by mid-November!
